To chronicle my travels, I began this blog in 2012. Fast-forward to 2017 and I am heading to South Africa as part of an institute on education and social change.

My blog begins with my experiences researching at an NGO in India and attending a conference in Thailand, checking Mt. Everest and Sherpas off of the bucket list (thanks to a certain green room experience and lecture I attended with Peter Hillary & Jamling Norgay) and riding an elephant or camel along the way. Not included in this blog are previous adventures to Rome, across Europe, and Belize (which would have been if travel blogs were a thing then! Maybe someday I’ll post excerpts from my pen and paper journal…).

I hope to continue this blog through future travels as well…so stay tuned!

I am a PhD student in history and philosophy of education, with an MA in international politics and a BA in political theory. I love exploring cultures, the arts, literature, history (especially of the Oklahoma variety), travel, and people.

“I wanted to live deliberately, I wanted to live deep and
suck out all the marrow of life,
To put to rout all that was not life and
not when I had come to die
Discover that I had not lived.”
–Henry David Thoreau

“I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day really difficult.”
